Legend of the Dragon King Getting Started on Steam

Legend of the Dragon King is a free-to-play Steam MMORPG in Early Access (app 4773970). You log in, pick Warrior, Mage, or Taoist, and immediately meet a 传奇-style loop: auto-combat, loot beams, recycle, rebirth, world bosses, guild halls, and castle siege. This page is the first-hour route. It assumes you can see the client but cannot read every tooltip yet.

Keep three tabs open: this guide, the class hub, and gift codes. The Steam page will not teach you English labels. The wiki will.

Install and what “Early Access” means here

Buy nothing to start. The listing is free-to-play with in-app purchases. Minimum specs on Steam are Windows 10 or 11, an Intel i3-class CPU, 4 GB RAM, broadband, and 6 GB disk — details on system requirements. Supported languages are Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese only.

Early Access in September 2026 means buttons still move. If a NPC name in this guide does not match your square, walk the ring of stalls until you see the icon, not the romanisation.

A Steam review cluster (34 of 39 positive when we counted) likes the talent tree and true-skill upgrades. A smaller set of negative reviews calls the listing a reskin of 功夫之王传奇. Treat that as a player report. Play the combat, warehouse valuables, and do not assume customer support will restore a cash shop if the listing changes name again.

Character create

You get three kits:

• Warrior — melee defence, AFK-friendly, slowest pack clear. Read Warrior if you hate kiting.
• Mage — fastest early maps, fragile. Read Mage if you want to hit continent tabs sooner.
• Taoist — pets, poison, heals, boss specialist. Read Taoist if you came for world bosses and the VIP kill tracker.

The tier list is activity-based, not a single S-rank. Mage leads early clear. Taoist leads bosses. Warrior leads lazy melee and keep defence. Do not rebirth until you have run one full bag through 回收.

Town square labels

The first city is a stone plaza with a bridge and fire pits. NPCs we captured:

拍卖行	Auction. Check prices before you vendor a named weapon.

Bottom HUD: skill hotbar, then 上马 (mount), 传送 (teleport), 自动 (auto-combat). Auto-combat is how the game expects you to farm. Turn it off in town so you do not punch the warehouse.

First 30 minutes

1. Talk through the onboarding until the hotbar fills. Do not skip so hard that 自动 never appears.
2. Turn auto-combat on at the nearest outdoor pack. Watch loot beams — yuanbao (元宝), ore, and potions. That dungeon screenshot with blue columns is the loop you will live in.
3. When the bag flashes, teleport to town, recycle, warehouse anything with a set name, go back.
4. Ignore cash-shop popups until you have read VIP farming. The membership window is a boss-kill ladder you can progress without a receipt.
5. Join a guild as soon as 万盟大厅 lets you. Empty guilds still unlock escort and flag content later; siege will not.

Combat without reading every skill

Skills upgrade into true skills (真技能) and then interact with a talent tree. That pairing is the Steam pitch. Do not spend talent points randomly on day one. Open true skills after you have a feel for your kit. Mage wants clear and a panic blink. Taoist wants pet uptime and poison. Warrior wants a charge and a hold.

Death is cheap if you recycled. Death is expensive if your bag was full of unnamed gold beams you never parked in 仓库.

First power spikes that are not the cash shop

• Recycle loop — keeps potions in stock for auto-combat.
• Rebirth — only after class lock-in.
• VIP boss bar — 220+ world bosses; V7 in our screenshot wanted 2,500 kills and listed a 7-rebirth potion.
• Continent tabs — 传奇之路, 神魔乱世, 黄泉幽冥, 彼岸异界, 黑暗神域. See continents.
• Dragon King set — namesake spike, Dragon King set.
• Castle siege — castle siege once a guild exists.

Titan (泰坦) gear on the icy platform is a PK ice set. It is a side goal, not a substitute for Dragon King.

Daily rhythm after the tutorial

Steam copy lists BOSS刷宝, 封妖塔 (Demon Seal Tower), 沙城争霸, 剑开天门, 天外天, and 神威塔. You will not finish that list on day one. Pick bosses for the VIP bar, one tower for gear, and siege if your guild is actually forming. Cross-server maps are the long-term hook according to positive reviews; they are not the first-hour problem.

When you log out, leave valuables in the warehouse, not the bag. Early Access crashes and bag wipes are the boring kind of legend.
